Receiving and processing an order for products is normally less than 25% of the total transaction. The sales
department may start the process but all their pre-work only amounts to a promise until the order is shipped to and received by the customer.
Kendall Electric’s warehouse and delivery staff’s primary objective is to fulfill all the promises that sales makes to our customers.
Many people have misconceptions of what Warehouse and Delivery staff do. Many believe that they convert catalog numbers into products and then
move the products from their shelves to yours.
They are our logistics experts, who work tirelessly to guarantee that each and every order arrives at our
customer’s dock properly packaged, fully documented, containing the correct product(s) and the right quantity.
They are also our final inspectors. Their eyes are the last to check the product before it leaves our warehouse.
As inspectors, they verify the “as new” condition of the product before packaging. They make certain that our
documentation is legible, complete and concise with all the items clearly identified and that any backordered
items are also clearly marked. They then schedule and route the shipment based on the manifest, load the trucks
and safely deliver many thousands of packages each year to thousands of Kendall customers. And that is just the
outgoing material process. When you add the organized chaos brought on by the daily invasion of trucks filled
with replenishment inventory, a day in one of our distribution warehouses is a remarkable sequence of
events to observe.
